Magento Association Announces New Leadership Team and Expanded Organizational Structure

By Brent W. Peterson

Katy Wilson named Executive Director, Ben Marks named Global Community Director, and an expanded board takes shape as the Association invests in the next phase of the global Magento ecosystem.

The Magento Association today announced a major expansion of its leadership team and organizational structure, marking a significant new phase of investment in the global Magento and Adobe Commerce ecosystem.

The announcement includes the appointment of Katy Wilson as Executive Director and Ben Marks as Global Community Director, alongside the introduction of a newly expanded board leadership team and broader operational initiatives designed to strengthen community engagement, ecosystem collaboration, and long-term organizational sustainability.

The Association also announced:

  • Noah Oken-Berg as Chair of the Board
  • Jisse Reitsma as Vice Chair
  • Sergej Derzap as Secretary
  • Cheryl Dorfman as a Board Director

Together, the new leadership team reflects a broad cross-section of the Magento ecosystem, spanning agencies, merchants, developers, open source contributors, technology partners, events, education, and global community leadership.

“This next chapter is about creating stronger operational foundations while investing more deeply in the people and organizations that make this ecosystem exceptional,” said Noah Oken-Berg, Chair of the Magento Association Board. “Magento has always been powered by its community. Our responsibility now is to help create the structure, alignment, and momentum needed for that community to continue growing and evolving globally.”

Executive Director: Katy Wilson

Katy Wilson joins the Association as Executive Director following more than 15 years of leadership across ecommerce partnerships, ecosystem development, and commerce enablement. Her background includes leadership roles at Adobe, Magento, Shopware, and multiple commerce technology organizations, where she focused on strategic partnerships, operational growth, and ecosystem expansion.

“The Magento ecosystem represents one of the most passionate and resilient communities in commerce,” said Wilson. “This role is an opportunity to help strengthen collaboration across the ecosystem while building a sustainable operational foundation for the future.”

Global Community Director: Ben Marks

Ben Marks returns to formal Magento community leadership as Global Community Director. A longtime Magento evangelist, founding Magento Association board member, educator, speaker, and open source advocate, Marks has spent more than a decade helping shape and grow the global Magento ecosystem through community engagement, education, and ecosystem development.

“Magento’s greatest strength has always been its people,” said Marks. “There is renewed energy across the ecosystem right now, and I’m excited to help support the developers, agencies, merchants, event organizers, contributors, and leaders continuing to move this community forward.”

A Broader Organizational Modernization

The expanded leadership structure is part of a broader organizational modernization initiative focused on:

  • strengthening operational sustainability,
  • increasing ecosystem engagement,
  • improving organizational coordination,
  • expanding community programs,
  • supporting global events and partnerships,
  • and creating stronger long-term infrastructure for the Magento ecosystem.

As part of this evolution, the Magento Association is also expanding operational support across membership coordination, marketing, events, finance, and community initiatives to better support the growing needs of the ecosystem worldwide.

The announcement follows a period of renewed collaboration and alignment across the Magento and Adobe Commerce community, including increased participation in global events, community-led initiatives, open-source collaboration, and ecosystem partnerships.

Additional announcements regarding upcoming initiatives, programs, and community engagement efforts are expected in the coming months.
