Sakuto Knife Review

Sakuto 8-Inch Gyuto Style Knife: Sharp Enough to Cut Through Your Cooking Excuses

Most of us aren’t Iron Chefs. We’re more like Iron Chef America contestants – all the enthusiasm, half the skill. But a good knife can make even the most fumble-fingered among us feel like we know what we’re doing. I recently received a Sakuto 8-inch Gyuto style knife to review.

When I first received this knife, I was skeptical. It looked nice, sure, but so does my reflection in a spoon. The real test would be in the kitchen.

This is a gorgeous knife. The handle and blade alone deserve to be displayed.

How does it perform? I put it through its paces, chopping everything from carrots to cardboard (don’t ask). The verdict? This knife is sharper than my wit after three cups of coffee. It sliced through tomatoes cleanly. The weight of the knife did the work.

Maintenance is straightforward. A quick hand wash, a gentle dry, and it’s ready for its next victim… I mean, vegetable.

At $130, it’s not cheap. I received this knife for free but I do think the price is warranted.

Who’s it for? Anyone who’s serious about cooking, or at least serious about pretending to be serious about cooking. It’s overkill for making PB&J sandwiches, but perfect for aspiring home chefs who want to up their game.

Pros:

The weight of the knife does the work for you

Comfortable handle

Versatile enough for most kitchen tasks

Cons:

– Priced high for an average home chef but this knife will last

Rating: 4.6 out of 5 stars. Would recommend.
