Shopify to Raise Prices by an Average of 33%

Shopify revealed that the subscription charges for their Basic, Shopify and Advanced plans would increase by around 33% on average.

The new pricing is now in effect for new merchants, while existing merchants won’t see a price change until April 23rd. If merchants elect for annual contract terms rather than monthly, they will get access to a discount that equates to the old monthly pricing.

It’s been 12 years since Shopify last updated their pricing for Basic, Shopify, and Advanced plans.

Existing merchants’ pricing will remain the same for the next three months. However, those just starting with Shopify can take advantage of the new pricing structure, which makes it possible to build a business at $1 per month during the trial period. Shopify continues to provide excellent value for commerce.

A minute alteration that encourages substantial transformation

Shopify stats in its blog post

“To ensure Shopify’s worth remains the same, we had to adjust the cost.

This alteration allows us to keep tackling some of the hardest challenges in the business with the best suited personnel to address them. It allows us to persist in making more possible and to give more people the capability to become business owners, and to do it in the speed needed to improve commerce for all.”

Basic plans will now be $39/month (vs. prior $29/month), core Shopify plans now $105/month (vs. prior $79/month), and Advanced plans now $399/month (vs. prior $299/month).
